Subminimum Wage Phase Out
On October 20, 2021, Delaware Governor John Carney signed HB 122 in law to phase out the state’s subminimum wage for workers with a disability. By January 31, 2024, employers can’t employ or pay an individual with a disability at an hourly rate lower than the state’s minimum wage. The state’s Employment First Oversight Commission will develop and implement this phase out plan.
