Maine Severance Pay Law Expanded: Compliance Reminder
Since 2015, Maine has had a law that requires severance pay and notice when industrial or commercial facilities with 100 or more employees close, engage in a mass layoff, or relocate more than 100 miles away. As of June 29, 2023, the law will be expanded to cover employers in all sectors that meet the size and circumstance criteria under the law.
