Maryland Prohibits Vaping in the Workplace
Effective July 1, 2024, Maryland’s Clean Indoor Air Act will be expanded to prohibit vaping in almost all indoor places of employment. Vaping includes using any electronic smoking device or other device that allows the user to inhale aerosol tobacco, cannabis, or hemp.
Employers are required to post a sign that says “NO SMOKING OR VAPING” near every public entrance to their place of employment.
Maryland Strengthens Anti-Retaliation Provisions
Maryland has passed MD H 136, which expands and standardizes anti-retaliation protections across various state employment laws and takes effect July 1, 2024.
