OFLA and Oregon Sick Leave Regulations Amended to Reflect Legislative Changes
On March 2, 2024, the Oregon Family Leave Act (OFLA) regulations were updated to include pregnancy termination, fertility, and infertility treatment within the definition of pregnancy disability to reflect recent legislative changes to the act. The OFLA allows employees of employers with 25 or more employees to take protected time off to care for themselves or a family member. Eligible employees may take OFLA leave for, what’s commonly referred to as, parental leave, serious health condition leave, pregnancy disability leave, sick child leave, and the death of a family member.
Additionally, the Oregon Sick Leave regulations were updated to include “bias” as a covered leave reason for absences due to domestic violence, harassment, sexual assault, bias, or stalking (safe leave).
